What does a School Nurse do?

-
Healthy lifestyles.
-
Emotional health, like stress or anxiety.
-
Physical health concerns.
-
Support during big changes, like starting secondary school or preparing for adult services.
-
School Nurses are approachable, understanding, and ready to listen without judgment. Their goal is to help you feel good about your health and reach your full potential.
What happens in Year 7 and Year 11?
In Year 7 (when you start secondary school) and Year 11 (as you prepare to leave), you’ll be asked to fill out a health questionnaire. This helps the School Nursing team understand how you’re doing and spot anything you might need support with. They can then work with you to address any issues, whether it’s physical health, emotional wellbeing, or development.
Who is my school nurse?
Every mainstream primary and secondary school, and Pupils Referral Unit (PRU) in Bexley has an allocated School Nurse. If you are not sure who your School Nurse is, you can ask your school who will be able to help you to contact your allocated School Nurse. Otherwise, feel free to contact the School Nursing Service directly by calling 0300 330 5777 Option 3, or emailing us at bromh.bexley0to19@nhs.net and a School Nurse will get back to you.
When can I talk to my School Nurse?
If you ever want to speak to your School Nurse, ask your school for their contact details. They’re there to help you, so don’t be afraid to reach out.
