Bladder issues can affect how often you need to pee or how easy it is to go to the toilet. It’s common to experience bladder problems from time to time, and though it might feel embarrassing, there are ways to manage it and get help.
-
Urinary Tract Infections (UTIs): UTIs happen when bacteria get into your urinary system, causing pain when you pee or making you feel like you need to go to the toilet all the time.
-
Frequent Urination: This is when you need to pee more often than usual, which could be caused by stress, a health condition, or by drinking lots of fluids.
-
Bedwetting: Wetting the bed at night is common for many young people. It can be caused by things like stress, how deeply you sleep, or other underlying issues.
-
Drink plenty of water to keep your bladder healthy.
-
Take your time when going to the toilet, and don’t rush.
-
For UTIs, make sure to see your Pharmacist or GP for treatment, which will usually be antibiotics.
-
Speak to your GP or school nurse: They can help you manage bladder issues and suggest treatment.
-
ERIC (The Children’s Bowel & Bladder Charity): Provides advice and support for young people with bladder problems. Home – ERIC.
